Mission
The Eliot Noyes Center will preserve the Eliot Noyes House as the symbol of the Center and as an embodiment of the Eliot Noyes legacy. The house integrates much of Noyes’s thinking— clarity of concept, synthesis of multiple arts, rigorous and simple execution in a work of sublime beauty for everyday function.
The Center intends to develop programs, seminars, business-to-design discussions, exhibits and events. In his career, Noyes collaborated with professionals in many disciplines, applying his architectural skills far outside of that field—for instance, to industrial design, corporate organization, graphics, and interiors. The Eliot Noyes Center intends to attract an equally broad range of people and disciplines.
The objective of the Eliot Noyes Center is to advance the understanding that design is universal, applicable to virtually anything—the core of Eliot Noyes’s work and legacy.
Vision
Eliot Noyes was the consummate design catalyst for the American Mid-century Modern movement. The Vision of the Eliot Noyes Center is to expand the spectrum of Noyes’s architecture and design principles:
• To forward design exploration in a multitude of disciplines, business organizations and teachings;
• To broaden design outreach to new, untapped arenas, relevant to present times and everyday uses;
• To promote cross-discipline coordination;
• To foster better public understanding of the benefits design brings to common activities of all people.
