Eliot Fette Noyes

Born in Boston on August 12, 1910, Noyes moved to Chicago and then back to Cambridge where Noyes’ father taught English at Harvard University. He was originally intent on becoming a painter but eventually changed his mind and enrolled in Harvard and came under the influence of the Beaux-Arts architecture movement.

Philosophy and Works

Noyes believed that each region of the United States has buildings inspired by the climate. He was a strong advocate of functional Modernism and his work was firmly grounded in the tradition of Gropius, Breuer & Le Corbusier.
